Friday night, went to see Lau plaing at Hebden Bridge Trades Club, just next to the Rochdale canal. Fantastic venue, fantastic band, and a fantastic night. It was so warm there was a mass exodus during the interval to get some air.
Sunny weather so I started on the roof. Loads more welds to grind down, then fill. Managed to get a bit of sunburn on my back again.
Went for a drink in Manchester and dec
ided to have a look at the bar at the Hilton. Now this was odd, as we had to queue up (on a red carpet of course) for the lift, and "guests" were ushered in the lift in some
sort of preferential order. A fast lift up to the 23rd Floor, and we got a great view of Manchester. There is a glass panel in the floor where you can stand looking down 200 ft to Deansgate below. Not for long though - me and heights have this little arrangement.
Had a quick look at the bar - I think water started at £4, and the menu went right up to £4995 for a whiskey! Decided to leave, and have a drink in the British Protection instead. £2.40 a pint - much more like it!
